The Chinese Theatre in Hollywood opened in 1927 on Hollywood Boulevard and quickly became one of the world’s most famous cinemas. It was created by film impresario Sid Grauman and is renowned for its spectacular Chinese-inspired architecture.

Its best-known feature is the forecourt in front of the theatre, where numerous film stars have left their handprints and footprints, signatures and messages in the cement, making it one of Hollywood’s most visited landmarks.

For several decades it was known as Mann’s Chinese Theatre, the name used for this 1999 Barbie. Today the building continues to operate as a cinema and is known as the TCL Chinese Theatre, maintaining its close connection with premieres, celebrations and major figures in the film industry.
