Barbie & Ken Marine Corps 1991 Stars ’n Stripes Special Edition

Description

Original Barbie & Ken Marine Corps from 1991, an attractive Special Edition double set from the Stars ’n Stripes line, one of the most recognisable themed collections of the early 1990s.

This set brings Barbie and Ken together with styling inspired by the Marine Corps, presented in military-inspired dress uniforms and a striking setting with a patriotic red, white and blue background. It is a particularly interesting edition for collectors looking for double sets featuring Mattel’s classic couple.

One of the great strengths of this edition is that it shows Barbie and Ken together in a theme that is unusual within the brand’s universe. Both appear in ceremonial uniforms, with carefully detailed elements such as:

  • white military-style caps,

  • dark jackets with red piping,

  • decorative medals and emblems,

  • white gloves,

  • and a very striking joint presentation.

The front of the box highlights the name “Marine Corps Barbie & Ken”, together with the Special Edition seal, reinforcing its status as a special piece within the collection.

The Stars ’n Stripes line was launched by Mattel in the early 1990s with patriotic and uniform-inspired themes. Various themed versions appeared within the line, and this Marine Corps edition is one of the most striking because it is a Barbie and Ken couple set.

Releases of this kind are highly representative of a particular era of Barbie, when themed collections with strong visual identities and very recognisable presentations were explored.
