Barbie The Carol Burnett Show Went with the Wind 2008 Bob Mackie Collector Mattel
Description
Fantastic Barbie The Carol Burnett Show “Went with the Wind!” from 2008, one of the most distinctive Barbie Collector editions, created as a tribute to one of the most memorable sketches in American television and to legendary comedian Carol Burnett.
The doll recreates the extravagant character Starlett O’Hara, star of the parody Went with the Wind!, with her unmistakable dress supposedly made from curtains: an enormous dark ensemble with a crossbar structure, fringe, cords, tassels and the characteristic headpiece, deliberately recreating the outrageous look of the original costume.
📺 The Carol Burnett Show and “Went with the Wind!”
The Carol Burnett Show was one of the great American variety and comedy programmes, broadcast between 1967 and 1978. Carol Burnett became one of the key figures in television comedy thanks to her sketches, impressions and film parodies.
Went with the Wind! originally aired in 1976 as a parody of Gone with the Wind. Its most famous moment comes when Carol Burnett appears in a dress made from window curtains, even including the curtain rod across her shoulders. The original costume was designed by Bob Mackie and became one of the most famous images of Burnett’s entire career.
Mattel translated this scene into Barbie with extraordinary detail, turning the doll into a particularly appealing piece for collectors of Barbie, classic television, Bob Mackie and American popular culture.
